Mason Baptista Bio

Born on January 9, 1990, in North York, Ontario, Mason Baptista is a former professional forward who has transitioned into a respected coach and skill development expert.

Standing at 6'0" (183 cm) and weighing 200 lbs (91 kg), Baptista played center and right wing and enjoyed a successful junior and college career before embarking on a seven-year professional journey that spanned the ECHL, SPHL, and even a stint in Germany with EHC Freiburg.

A two-time NCAA Division III National Champion with St. Norbert College in Wisconsin, Baptista brought championship pedigree and a high hockey IQ to every team he joined. Over his pro career, he logged more than 300 games across stints with teams like the Fort Wayne Komets, Wichita Thunder, Quad City Mallards, and Macon Mayhem, known for his compete level, leadership, and intelligent two-way play.

Since retiring as a player, Baptista has channeled his on-ice experience into coaching and player development. He currently serves as an Assistant Coach with the Sarnia Sting of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He previously coached with the Green Bay Gamblers (USHL) and founded BapsHockey, a specialized training program focused on advanced hockey IQ, decision-making, and off-ice cognitive development for players looking to elevate their game.

Passionate about teaching the mental side of the sport, Baptista emphasizes sound reasoning, quick reads, and high-percentage plays—skills he honed over years of professional competition.

Whether behind the bench or on the ice running sessions, Mason continues to impact the next generation of hockey players with the same dedication and insight that defined his playing days.
